Oppo has cancelled the livestream to release its 5G cellphone in India as protests called for boycott of China-made products, following escalated border tensions with the neighbour.



The Indian and Chinese troops are engaged in a stand-off in Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley, Demchok and Daulat Beg Oldie in eastern Ladakh, after 20 Indian Army personnel were killed in a violent face-off with Chinese troops in Ladakh's Galwan Valley on night of June 15.

The incident has stirred anti-China sentiments with protesters and a few trade our bodies like CAIT(The Confederation of All India Traders) calling for boycott of Chinese products.

Oppo, which ranks amongst the top 5 smartphone carriers in India, had said it's going to livestream the release of its Find X2 smartphone on June 17 through YouTube. But the occasion turned into cancelled later on, and the enterprise as an alternative uploaded a pre-recorded video.

While Oppo did no longer respond to queries in search of purpose for the cancellation, reports propose that the cancellation was accomplished in view of the protests.


In a press release, the business enterprise said the top class 5G 'Find X2' handset will be available in India for Rs 64,990.

South Korea's Samsung, which ranked 1/3 and cornered 15.6 according to cent proportion of shipment in the stated quarter, is the most effective non-Chinese firm within the top 5 tally.
